Washington/Beijing: Bill Nelson, US Space agency NASA Administrator, warned regarding the Chinese space missions. He said a race had been sparked in space between the United States and China. China will complete its work on its base on the Moon by 2035 and will start its experiments. Everyone, including the United States, is concerned about the Chinese base on the Moon. China could say after landing on the Moon that the Moon belongs to them and everyone else should stay away from it. The Chinese space program is military.’
Last year, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence of the United States released a detailed document regarding Chinese space activities. The report warned that the militarisation of space is the plan of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. The plan’s objective is to challenge the United States in the space technology sector and surpass it. China will build a space station in the Earth’s orbit between 2022 and 2024. The space station could be used to militarise space and reduce the US influence in space.
After that, David Thomson, a senior official with the US Space Force, also targeted China. Thomson accused China of targeting US satellites every day. Jammers, Lasers and cyberattacks are being used to attack US satellites. General Thomson had warned that China is considerably advanced in its space capabilities compared to Russia. China is deploying systems with varied capabilities in space at a rapid pace. By the decade’s end, China will be the leading power in the space sector.
Against this background, the statement by the chief of the leading US space agency NASA becomes significant. 
During his interview with the German daily ‘Build’, Nelson accused China of training its astronauts to destroy satellites of other countries. The NASA chief pointed out that there is a possibility of water on the south pole of the Moon and China is carrying out all its mission in the same region.
A Chinese reaction has been received to the accusations levelled by Nelson. The Chinese foreign ministry said that the statements made by the NASA chief regarding China are irresponsible.
