Australia facing most dangerous situation since World War II: Australian PM Scott Morrison

Canberra: – Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison declared, ‘Australia is facing the most difficult and dangerous security circumstances for the first time since the second world war. The democratic Western powers should stand united to confront dictatorial regimes enjoying unrestricted rule.’ At the same time, he underlined the Chinese threat and announced new bases for nuclear submarines.

The United Kingdom, the United States and Australia formed the AUKUS group. By forming this group, the United States announced that it would be assisting Australia to build nuclear submarines. It was announced that this group was formed to augment the military capabilities of all three countries. China had criticised that AUKUS was a military front formed against it.  

Against this background, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced that new bases would be built in Australia for the nuclear submarines of the AUKUS members. Prime Minister Morrison informed that these bases would be built at Brisbane, New Castle and Port Kembla and $7.5 billion will be the expenditure for building these bases.   

Prime Minister Morrison spoke at a function organised by ‘Lobby Institute’, a renowned Australian think tank. At this time, he underlined the Chinese threat. At the same time, he also warned that Australia is facing the most difficult and dangerous times since the second world war.   

The Australian Prime Minister criticised China while speaking on the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Prime Minister Morrison pointed out that it has been 12 days since the Russia-Ukraine conflict started, and China has not condemned the Russian action. At the same time, the Australian Prime Minister accused that Russia and China are both countries with dictatorial regimes.   

Prime Minister Morrison accused ‘Australia denounces the Russian action in Ukraine in the harshest possible words. The Russian action violated international regulations and an attack on sovereignty. This is the best example of how the dictatorial regimes change the situation using threats and violence.’ The Russian actions have rocked the international system based on regulations. The Australian Prime Minister criticised that this has posed a threat to the peace and stability prevailing for many decades.
