On Thursday, the US destroyer USS Curtis Wilbur patrolled near the Paracel Islands in the South China Sea. Moreover, the US Pacific Fleet informed that the patrol was part of the US Navy’s Freedom of Navigation operation.

China strongly objected to the US operation. “The US patrol happened without notifying China. It is a part of US policy to demonstrate its unilateral maritime dominion,” a Chinese spokesperson criticised. China accused that the US patrol in the South China Sea violated its sovereignty and security.

Moreover, the Chinese Army said that apart from USS Curtis Wilbur, other warships and fighter jets also travelled near the Paracel Islands.
