India registers 10 lakh Coronavirus cases in just a month, takes total tally over 16 lakh

New Delhi: – The total number of Coronavirus cases in the country has crossed 16 lakhs. On Wednesday, 52,000 new Coronavirus cases were reported from around the country, whereas 50,000 cases were reported on Thursday. More than 100,000 cases have been added in just two days. Also, more than 300,000 new cases have been reported from around the country in the last week. In July, more than 10 lakh new cases have been reported from the country. The number of deaths also has crossed 35,000 with an addition of 17,000 in the month.

1.82 crore tests have been conducted in the country. Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan informed that 500,000 tests are being conducted in India per day. R. Bhushan, Secretary of the health ministry, clarified that taking into account the population density in India, the Coronavirus pandemic cannot be controlled unless a vaccine is available. Hence, according to him, the Indian population will have to strictly follow the regulations to control the transmission of the disease.   

On Thursday, 266 patients died in the state of Maharashtra with an addition of 11,147 new cases. 53 patients died in Mumbai, and 1,223 new cases were reported. The rate of recovery in the state has reached 60%, but concerns were expressed as 11,000 new cases were added in the state in one day. The lockdown in the state of Maharashtra has been extended till 31st March, given the consistent rise in Coronavirus cases.   

Andhra Pradesh is second, after Maharashtra, in the number of new cases. In the last 24 hours, there was an addition of more than 10,000 new cases in Andhra Pradesh with 68 deaths. Karnataka reported 6,128 new cases and 83 patients died in one day. The lockdown in Tamil Nadu has been extended till 31st August. 97 patients died in the state, and 5,864 new cases were reported from the state in the day.   

The Indian capital, Delhi, reported 1,093 new Coronavirus cases and 29 deaths. The working of the high court and other courts have been suspended, given the increasing influence of the Coronavirus pandemic. 450 new cases have been reported from Jammu and Kashmir. 83 of these are from Kashmir sector, and 367 are from Jammu sector. On Thursday, the number of deaths reported from other states was Gujarat 24, Telangana 12 and 9 each from Bihar and Jharkhand.  

Meanwhile, in view of the increasing number of new cases, the lockdown has been made stricter in many cities in the country, and other measures have also been initiated.
