Union Home Ministry orders the states for strict enforcement of regulations given 156 new cases of Omicron reported in India within 24 hours

New Delhi: – In the last 24 hours, the number of patients of Omicron, the new variant of Coronavirus, has increased by 156 in the country. More patients were found even on Monday. As a result, the number of Omicron patients in the country has crossed 600. Union Home Secretary Rajiv Bhalla has given clear instructions, ‘Against this background, the implementation of the suggestions made by the Central Government should be initiated by all the States and Union Territories. There should not be any carelessness and laxity in implementing Corona Prevention Measures.’ Letters have been written to all state governments in this regard.

Currently, corona patients per day are stable at six to seven thousand per day. But in some places, the number of Coronavirus cases is seen to be rising. At the same time, concerns are growing over the growing number of patients in India infested by the Omicron variant, which has reached more than 116 countries. Concerns have been raised that the number of Omicron patients capable of transmitting infections many times faster than the Delta variant has increased by 156 in 24 hours.  

As of Monday morning, the number of Omicron patients in the country had reached 578. Also, on Monday, there were reports of new Omicron cases reported from various states. As a result, the total number of Omicron patients in India has crossed 600. The first case of Omicron has been reported from the northeastern states. On Monday, it became clear that a patient in Manipur had an Omicron infection. On Sunday, 31 Omicron patients were found in Maharashtra. Another 26 Omicron patients were registered on Monday. Of these, 11 patients have been found in Mumbai. Five patients were seen in Raigad, four in Thane, two in Nanded, one each in Pune, Nagpur, Palghar and Bhiwandi. As a result, the total number of patients in Maharashtra has reached 167. After Maharashtra, 142 Omicron infected patients were found in Delhi.  

Against this background, the Union Home Ministry also directed the states on Monday. On 21st December, the guidelines were issued in a letter to the states by the Union Ministry of Health. Its strict implementation should start before 31st December. The Union Home Ministry has said that there should be no delay in implementing the instructions given by the Ministry of Health and the Corona Prevention Rules. In addition, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla has written a letter to the states asking them to pay attention to the five principles of test, track, treat, vaccination and compliance with preventive rules. Omicron has reached 19 states in the country. The number of Omicron patients is constantly increasing. Bhalla has made it clear that there cannot be any negligence in this regard. Meanwhile, on Monday, the central government issued guidelines for vaccination of children between the ages of 15 and 18 and for health workers, front line workers, and senior citizens with comorbidities.
