Qatar retorted that the policies of the Taliban are disappointing. The Taliban are pushing Afghanistan back by denying education to girls. The Taliban should learn from Qatar what the Islamic system should be like.’ Qatar’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani drew the Taliban’s attention to his country’s rights granted to women.

Although the Islamic system is followed in Qatar, women are encouraged to pursue higher education and take up government jobs. But Qatar’s foreign minister lashed out that the Taliban’s atrocities against women and girls in Afghanistan are ‘disappointing.’ Foreign Minister Thani claimed that there are more women than men in the offices in Qatar.

As soon as the Taliban came to power, they ordered working Afghan women to stay at home. It then banned the education of girls in Afghanistan. Afghan women have started protests against the Taliban’s policy. Slogans like ‘Don’t break our pens, don’t burn books, don’t close schools.’ are being heard during the protests by Afghan women.

The Taliban cracked down on women protesting in front of a school in Kabul. Taliban militants tore down banners carried by the female protesters. Some of the terrorists pushed and shot at the women. A journalist was beaten with a rifle covering the protests and filming the Taliban’s actions.

The possibility of the Taliban gaining international recognition has been ruled out because of such actions. Pakistan and China, who are supporters of the Taliban, also have been hesitant in recognizing the Taliban because of such activities. At the same time, there seems to be strong resentment in the international community against these radical policies.
