According to the website, The Cradle, two senior US and Israeli officials were killed in Erbil, the capital of Iraq’s Kurdistan province. In June, two attacks were carried out on the base in Erbil of the Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad. Axis of Resistance sources told the Lebanese news agency that the two officers were involved in a plot to carry out airstrikes on Soleimani and Muhandis. Lieutenant Colonel James Willis, an official from Albuquerque and the Red Horse Unit, and Colonel Sharon Asman of the Israeli Nahal Brigade were killed in the attacks. Both these officials were a part of the plot to assassinate Soleimani and Muhandis. Sources in the Axis of Resistance informed the Lebanese news agency that these officials were killed to avenge the assassination.

However, the concerned sources accused that the United States and Israel had given fake reasons for the deaths of the two officials. The Pentagon announced that Lieutenant Colonel Willis was killed in an accident at Al-Udeid Airbase of the United States. The Israeli military says Colonel Sharon died of a heart attack during training at an Israeli military base. Therefore, Axis of Resistance sources accused the United States and Israel of hiding information about the deaths of Willis and Sharon.

In addition to the attacks on Willis and Sharon, there have been two other attacks on Mossad locations in Iraq. An attack in April this year was carried out following the explosion at Iran‘s Natanz nuclear plant. In September, there were reports of drone strikes near the Mossad bases in Erbil. The attacks were carried out by Iran affiliated terrorist groups in Iraq. But the provincial government of the Kurds in Iraq dismissed the allegations. At the same time, Israel had declined to comment. A report released by the Lebanese website about Willis and Sharon has been carried by the news channel of the Iran government.

In the first week of January last year, the United States launched a drone strike near Baghdad International Airport in Iraq. General Qasem Soleimani, head of Iran’s Quds Force, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, head of the terrorist organisation Popular Mobilization Unit, from Iraq, were killed in the attack. Iran, Hezbollah and other Iran affiliated terrorist groups in Iraq threatened to retaliate against the United States and its allies to avenge the killings.

Iran had threatened that senior US military officials stationed around the world, including the Gulf, would be on the Iranian radar. Meanwhile, two days ago, Christian Abizaid, the Director of the US Counterterrorism Squad, issued a warning that Iran and Hezbollah are still plotting to avenge General Soleimani’s assassination. Therefore, there is a possibility of an attack on the United States and Israel by Iran and Hezbollah in the near future.
