China proposes cooperation with European countries against US Trade Po

Washington/Beijing: The Inflation Reduction Act-IRA has come into effect in the United States from January 1. This will hit fellow countries that trade heavily with the US. Especially the companies in European countries in the vehicle manufacturing sector and the companies in the semiconductor industry will have to bear the loss due to this. Thus, the European countries will not refrain from responding to the US to the same degree. However, European countries will have to take China’s assistance for this. China is ready to help European countries to control the harmful policies of the US, the Chinese government mouthpiece Global Times said. This reveals that through its mouthpiece, China extends its cooperation to the European countries that were being hit by the new US law.

Due to IRA, companies exporting large quantities of vehicles and semiconductors in the US will also suffer. Moreover, the damage caused to other countries due to this law of the US will not limit to these two areas only in the future. Besides, its scope will continue to increase progressively. Hence, it becomes imperative to take steps to stop this US policy from now on, says an article in Global Times. For this, the Chinese government’s mouthpiece proposed that European countries and China should form a united front and put pressure on the US.

In this article, it has been urged that Germany and France, most affected by the US’s new policies, should take the initiative. Meanwhile, complaints have started that the trade policies adopted by the US are harmful to the interests of European countries. In addition, French President Emmanuel Macron reprimanded the US over this. President Macron accused the US of treating Europe as secondary on the trade front. This also had an impact on the European Union. Furthermore, the European Union had questioned whether the United States thinks friendship with the EU is important. However, this has not had an impact on US policy.

In such a situation, China’s proposal to the European Union as an alliance against the United States may seem attractive. However, as China also did not show integrity in bilateral trade, the Federation took measures to cooperate with China. At the same time, the European Union blocked the discussion on the trade cooperation agreement with China, saying that China’s policies on human rights violations and other issues were dangerous. China made progress on none of these points that the Federation expected, nor has China’s activities improved. While this is the case, it raises the question of whether the European Union will cooperate with China to pressure the US.
