It is reported that a P-8 Poseidon surveillance aircraft, of the US Navy, landed at the Veer Savarkar Airport at Port Blair, for refuelling. As per the ‘Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement’ signed, in 2016, between India and the United States, both the countries can use each other’s military bases. The US surveillance aircraft, P-8 Poseidon, landed at the Port Blair airport, for refuelling, under this agreement.

Only a few days ago, the Indian warship INS Talwar, deployed in the Arabian Sea, was refuelled by the US tanker USNS Yukon. India has a logistics agreement in place with Japan, Australia and France, along with the United States. But the military analysts are claiming that the landing of the US Surveillance aircraft, P-8 Poseidon, at Port Blair is a warning for China. In July, US Aircraft carrier USS Nimitz had held war exercises with the Indian Navy, in the same region. As per analysts, that was also a warning for China.

Indian Airforce fleet also has P-8 aircraft. India is using these aircraft for monitoring the Chinese movements on the Ladakh border. India had used the P-8 aircraft, to monitor the Chinese activities, even during the Doklam Standoff in 2017.
