India’s Union cabinet takes a revolutionary decision to establish a National Quantum Mission

New Delhi – The Union government of India approves 6000 Crores to establish a National Quantum Mission. Only six countries are working in the field of Quantum technology, which is claimed to influence the future. India has taken the quantum jump by taking a revolutionary decision to enter the elite club, says Union Minister Jitendra Singh.

Currently, the US, Canada, France, Austria, Finland, and China are working on Quantum technology, which is still in its inception stage. Hence, India taking a plunge into quantum technology is a revolutionary decision as this technology is expected to be relevant in almost all areas, from defence to healthcare. Union Minister of Science and Technology Jitendra Singh informed that this would lead to drastic changes in many things, from establishing secure communication systems to medical treatment, while boosting employment in the future.

Traditionally, India has lagged in technological advancement compared to other countries and was a follower. Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Minister, Anurag Thakur claimed that India will soon become a leader in quantum technology, for which 6000 cores have been announced for research during the eight years from 2023-24 to 2030-31.

Jitendra Singh has said that the approved allocation of money will be utilised in quantum technology research in a phased manner. At the same time, considering the future importance of quantum technology, this technology will be very useful for safe, fast, and reliable communication.

Meanwhile, Singh also informed that the National Quantum Mission would collaborate with six ministries. Union Minister Anurag Thakur has informed that the Chairman of National Quantum Mission will be appointed as an eminent scientist from the industry or an entrepreneur.
