Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron, blamed Turkey and Russia for the increasing discontent in the African countries against France. Macron accused ‘When I announced an action against extremism, Turkey and Muslim Brotherhood, distorted my statements to spread discontent among the African countries, against me.’
French President Macron attacked Russia and Turkey during an interview with a popular African magazine in France. Macron launched a scathing attack ‘Turkey and Russia are carrying on a vicious propaganda campaign by bribing people for expressing discontent against France, in the French media. Journalists and cameramen in the French media, being bribed by Russia and Turkey, is a horrible matter. Serious cognisance has to be taken of this matter.’
While criticising the increasing Turkish and Russian influence in the French media, President Macron held Turkey and Muslim Brotherhood responsible, for the anarchy like situation created in France, over the last few months. A few weeks ago, Macron announced action against extremists in France. Macron made vitriolic criticism that Turkey and the Muslim Brotherhood, created a public opinion against France, using their influence in the African countries.
At the same time, Macron underlined that his conflict is only with extremists. The French President asserted that no talks are possible with terrorists from the North African countries. Macron warned that people attacking innocent civilians and French soldiers would not be spared and harsh actions will continue against them.
Meanwhile, since the last few weeks, tensions have been created between France and Turkey over various issues. France has adopted an aggressive stand against Turkey, on the issues like conflicts in Syria and Libya, the oil exploration started by Turkey in the Mediterranean Sea and Armenia-Azerbaijan war. France is getting support from other European countries. Germany also issued a stern warning to Turkey regarding this. Indications are that France and the other European countries are planning to initiate a harsh action against Turkey, in the coming times.
