Pakistan Supreme court jolts Imran Khan

Islamabad: – The Chief Justice of the Pakistan Supreme Court, Umar Ata Bandial, announced that although Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Arif Alvi have decided to dissolve the Pakistan parliament, the implementation will depend on the decision of the Pakistan Supreme Court. Imran Khan and his supporters were claiming to have superseded their opponents. But the announcement by the Pakistan Chief Justice indicates that the tables seem to have turned. But more than these developments, the accusations made by Imran Khan regarding the international conspiracy are creating a bigger stir in Pakistan.

Imran Khan had accused Donald Lu, an official in the US state department had hatched a conspiracy to overthrow his government. Donald Loo had threatened Assad Majid, the Pakistan Ambassador to the United States. This US official had threatened Ambassador Assad Majid that there would be dire consequences if the no-confidence motion was not passed in the Pakistan parliament and the Imran Khan government survived. The accusations levelled by Imran Khan became a hot topic of discussion in the Pakistan media. Opposition leaders are asking, ‘If the United States was conspiring on such a big scale against Imran Khan, why did he not tell the country about it earlier?’ the OIC conference was also held in Pakistan at the time of starting the process of pulling down the Imran Khan government. The Imran Khan government had invited even the United States to the conference. Some opposition leaders have asked, ‘Why was the US invited?’

As per the opposition parties, Imran Khan has made these accusations of an international conspiracy to save his government. There is not even an iota of truth in the claim. Imran Khan, who has failed on all fronts, is making these arbitrary accusations to earn the sympathy of the Pakistan population. The opposition leaders emphasise that he will not benefit from this. At the same time, as per the Pakistan media, Imran Khan’s claim that he is the only patriot and all others are traitors is a major crime.

In this scenario, the country is looking up to the Supreme Court. If the Supreme Court dismisses the decisions taken by Imran Khan and Arif Alvi, their government will have to face a no-confidence motion in the Pakistan parliament. Imran Khan may even have to resign as the prime minister before the motion. Discussions have also started in Pakistan that once Imran Khan steps down from his position, the Pakistan military will show him his place.
