NATO countries are sponsoring terrorism, accuses Turkish President

Ankara: ‘Finland and Sweden are not the only countries in Europe that support terrorists. Germany and France, which are members of NATO, are also supporters of terrorism,’ Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said. Two days ago, President Erdogan accused both Finland and Sweden, which had applied for NATO membership, of being sponsors of terrorism. The Turkish President has now created a sensation by including Germany and France.

Due to this fear, Finland and Sweden have requested to join NATO. Britain and Germany, two of NATO’s leading nations, have signalled a ‘fast-track’ process for NATO membership for Finland and Sweden. But certain NATO members, including Turkey, are opposed to the membership of Finland and Sweden in NATO.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has taken a more aggressive stance, accusing Finland and Sweden of being supporters of terrorism. Erdogan had alleged that Finland and Sweden were giving shelter to terrorists of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which Turkey had declared a terrorist organization. The United States and the European Union have already declared the PKK a terrorist organization. The Turkish President announced that Finland and Sweden might be allowed to join NATO only if they guarantee action against the PKK.

Less than two days later, President Erdogan accused Germany, France, and the Netherlands of being supporters of terrorism. Erdogan criticized Germany, France and the Netherlands for backing the PKK, wreaking havoc in Turkey, and the FETO, a rebel group. President Erdogan accused the police of Finland, Sweden, Germany, France and the Netherlands of protecting anti-Turkish terrorist organizations. For this, the President of Turkey cited the ‘Long March’ organized by PKK in European countries.

Meanwhile, Turkey’s stand against Finland and Sweden’s participation in NATO and the allegations against Germany and France are now making the differences in NATO more prominent.
