China may use military force to unify Taiwan, President Xi warns

Beijing: During Communist Party’s convention in Beijing, President Xi Jinping warned that the issue of Taiwan would be resolved only by China, with the best possible peaceful efforts. However, we will never promise to renounce the use of force and reserve the right to exercise all other options at our disposal. Chinese President Xi Jinping targeted the United States and other countries for their unwarranted intervention in the Taiwan issue. The Taiwan government has reacted to Xi Jinping’s comment by stating that the people of Taiwan will not compromise on their sovereignty.

While hinting at the use of force for Taiwan, he also assured making China’s defence forces equivalent to international standards. Xi Jinping claims that by 2027, China’s defence forces will be completely modernized.
