India and US facing similar threats from China – US Indo-Pacific command chief

Washington – Admiral John Aquilino, the commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command, has claimed that India and the US are facing similar threats from China. Thus, Admiral Aquilino claimed that the US is giving special importance to its partnership with India and is working round the clock to develop this partnership further. While his claims were being published, a White House spokesman for the US President said his country is committed to economic development with India and broadening bilateral cooperation.

Moreover, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said her country expects excellent relations with China. In her speech at Johns Hopkins University on Thursday, the US Treasury Secretary emphasized the importance of relations with China. The Biden administration is also accused of striving to provide trade and other concessions to China in every way possible. Opposition leaders and some journalists have been criticizing President Biden and his son Hunter Biden for taking bribes from China. However, while the Biden administration’s stance on China has been questioned this way, the US Indo-Pacific Command has repeatedly made it clear that cooperation with India is paramount.

Furthermore, responsible US leaders, current and former military officers and diplomats are constantly trying to highlight the threat posed by China and underscore the importance of the US’s relationship with India. Admiral Aquilino also reminded India and the US of the possible security challenges from China in the Indo-Pacific region. India and the US, the world’s largest democracies, believe in common values. Indians and Americans have excellent communication and cooperation with each other. Admiral Aquilino said that India and the US are coordinating with the member countries of the Quad.

Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Jean-Pierre claimed that India and the US cooperate through the Quad. Jean-Pierre claimed that the US is committed to both countries’ economic progress and development and to enhance cooperation. The US has overtaken China to become India’s largest trading partner. Against that backdrop, these statements from the White House are significant. While the Biden administration has pleased India by making such statements in the past, it has often been clear that the Biden administration is not serious about the anti-China front.
