Tokyo: India-Japan relations are getting more robust with new responsibilities and goals. It has been 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Japan. But the best of the two countries’ friendship is yet to come. Prime Minister Narendra Modi underlined the importance of India-Japan relations, saying that the three words “special”, “strategic”, and “global” fall short in defining the relationship between the two countries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Japan to attend the QUAD meeting, accepting an invitation from Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. This time, he received a strong welcome.

The Prime Minister presided over the India-Japan Business Roundtable conference convened by Japanese entrepreneurs. The meeting was attended by heads and senior officials of major Japanese companies. Representatives of various Japanese trade associations were also present. The Prime Minister appealed to Japanese entrepreneurs to invest in India in a big way.

Globally, the flow of investment has slowed down. At the same time, despite this, India has received USD 84 billion in foreign direct investment in the last financial year. The Prime Minister claimed that this is the confidence expressed by the world in Indian capabilities.

After the trade conference in Tokyo, Prime Minister Modi also addressed the Indian community in Japan. Giving the example of Swami Vivekananda, the Prime Minister appealed to the youth of Japan to come to India at least once in their lifetime. Prime Minister Modi pointed out that Japan is an important partner in India’s development, and these two countries are natural partners on the path of development. He also said that today the whole world needs to follow the ideology of Lord Buddha, and the world is faced with a great challenge to save humanity. The prime minister also mentioned Indian assistance in providing vaccines, medicines, and food to the world during the Corona Crisis.

While drawing attention to the 70 years of political relations and travels between the two countries, Prime Minister Modi has underlined a few things. Prime Minister Modi clarified, ‘India and Japan are key pillars of stability and security in the Indo-Pacific region. As a strategically stable democracy in the Indo-Pacific region, the partnership between the two countries is essential for peace, stability and prosperity in the region.’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India and Japan contribute to a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region, maritime security, connectivity, respect for sovereignty and compliance with international law.
