G7 should develop an early warning system for pandemics: US Deputy NSA

Washington: In the last year and a half, the Coronavirus killed over 3.9 million. But, this threat won’t end just here, international leaders and experts warn. Moreover, ‘From an industrial perspective, the G7 nations should be prepared for the next biohazard. These G7 nations must develop an early warning system,’ warned US Deputy NSA, Daleep Singh. At the same time, he criticised that the process of China providing loans to other countries is opaque.

Daleep Singh warned about this threat to the G7 countries while speaking to the Center for Strategic and International Studies, CSIS, during a virtual conference. We have to prepare for the next biothreat and it will require developing an early warning system. Moreover, we will have to unite to fight against this pandemic threat and all nations would have to function in coordination. No hidden terms and conditions should be applied for this, Daleep Singh said.  Besides, he also appealed to the G7 countries to speed up the vaccination process.

‘In the future, we would be able to minimise the intensity of the biothreat; it depends on how competent and aggressive the G7 countries take,’ claimed Daleep Singh. In the times to come, the discussions at G7 and G20 summit is significant. The Biden administration has appointed the US Deputy NSA, Daleep Singh, as the G7 and G20 Sherpa. Against this background, the appeal by the US Deputy NSA regarding the future biothreat is considered significant.

While warning about the next biohazard, Daleep Singh avoided mentioning China. But, in the last few months, the G7 meeting that happened in the UK targeted China. China’s role in Coronavirus is suspicious, so the G7 member nations demanded that China show transparency.

However, the G7 member countries did not officially accuse China of deliberately spreading the Coronavirus pandemic. But the nations indicated that the Chinese claims about the virus could no longer be accepted. A few experts and researchers from the United States and the United Kingdom have held China accountable for spreading the virus. Thus, the pressure on China by the G7 and other nations will continue to mount. China seems to have become distasteful, given the global situation going against it.
