PM sends greetings to the Dalai Lama, analysts claim that India delivering message to China

New Delhi – Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent good wishes to Dalai Lama on his 86th birthday. The greetings offered by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Dalai Lama are being linked to the reigning tension between India and China. This supreme leader of the Tibetan Buddhists is respected and revered around the world. But China, which has taken illegal control over Tibet nearly seven decades ago, cannot stand even the mention of Dalai Lama’s name. Therefore, it is being claimed that the Indian Prime Minister has delivered a message to China by offering good wishes to Dalai Lama over the telephone. Dalai Lama expressed his gratitude, saying that he came to India as a refugee and settled here; he said he has taken complete advantage of the Indian independence and religious tolerance.

India, Narendra Modi, Dalai Lama, ChinaChina acquired Tibet with military action in 1950. Dalai Lama left Tibet in 1959 because of the Chinese threat and took refuge in India. Dalai Lama has been ably presenting the Chinese acquisition of Tibet and the Chinese atrocities against the Tibetan people in front of the world. China has objected to this time and again. Saying that Dalai Lama is carrying out separatist activities for Tibet, China has repeatedly tried to exert pressure on India. But India has rejected the Chinese objections saying that Dalai Lama is a respected figure in India.

Against this background, Prime Minister Modi wished Dalai Lama on his 86th birthday over the telephone. The Prime Minister wished that Dalai Lama is blessed with a long and healthy life. At the same time, Dalai Lama said that he has taken complete advantage of Indian independence and religious tolerance. Dalai Lama added that he respects the Indian principles of secularism, sincerity, compassion and non-violence. The telephonic talk between Prime Minister Modi and Dalai Lama is being linked to the tension reigning between India and China. As per analysts, India has delivered a message to China through this.

Last week, the Chinese Communist regime completed 100 years. Tibetan people appreciated that India did not wish China over the development. Against this background, the Prime Minister’s telephonic talk with Dalai Lama becomes significant. The issue of Chinese atrocities against the Uyghurs in the Xinjiang province is making rounds in the world. Strong reactions are also being received from the international community over the Chinese oppression to crush the pro-democracy agitation in Hong Kong. At the same time, the issue of suppression of Tibetan voices also is being presented on the international level. In this scenario, the reports regarding Dalai Lama can upset China further.
