US will deploy military for Taiwan's security if China attacks, Joe Biden

Tokyo/ Taipei: By saying that it would never be right for China to use force against Taiwan. Such an attack would destabilize the entire region. China’s action on Taiwan will be similar to its attack on Ukraine. Chinese planes and warships ply the Taiwanese border. China is playing a dangerous game with such moves. US President Joe Biden has claimed that the United States would deploy troops to protect Taiwan if China attacked it.

Moreover, this is the second time the US president has stated that the United States will take care of Taiwanese security in the face of Chinese aggression. An earlier statement had forced the Us defence department and the White House to provide clarifications. There has been a strong reaction from China to Biden’s new statement. Foreign Department spokesman said that China strongly condemns the statements made by the US president.

Besides, US President Joe Biden is currently on a visit to Japan. The Russia-Ukraine conflict and China were discussed during his meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. After the meeting, President Biden compared the Russia-Ukraine conflict and Chinese actions against Taiwan in a press conference. President Biden presented his stand, saying that if we want to stop China from invading Taiwan, we have to force Russian President Vladimir Putin to pay a heavy price for the invasion of Ukraine. That would send a strong message to China and other countries that the use of force is unacceptable.’

Biden’s remarks prompted reporters to question the policy of the United States on the Sino-Taiwan conflict. There were several reasons why the United States did not participate directly in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. But will the US deploy troops to defend Taiwan? The journalists asked this question. Biden replied in the affirmative, saying that the United States had made a promise. A statement from the White House said that the United States is committed to maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwanese region. China expressed displeasure over Biden’s remarks. ‘China is strongly condemning the remarks made by the US president. Taiwan is an integral part of China,’ said Wang Wenbin, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman. The Foreign department also warned that the United States should not defend Taiwanese independence.

While the United States has promised security for Taiwan, it is still not ready to openly oppose China. Taiwan is not included in the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework proposed by the United States on Monday.
