US agencies promote Russian fuel transactions – claims a British daily

Russian fuelLondon/Washington/Moscow – After the Russia-Ukraine conflict began, the United States took the initiative to impose sanctions on the economy, including sanctions on Russian oil. Claims were made by leading officials and analysts, including the US President, to prevent the Ukraine conflict by smashing the Russian economy. However, it has not made much difference even after a year, except for Russia’s economy and the attacks on Ukraine. On the contrary, Western countries have been suffering from the sanctions, and now these countries have started making secret efforts to soften the anti-Russian policy. A leading British daily has claimed that the US agencies have been encouraging the companies involved in the Russian fuel trade.

Last month, the G7, the US, and the European Union started implementing the decision to set limits on Russian fuel prices. Russia’s crude oil was allowed to sell at $60 per barrel and below. Besides, a strong warning was given to take action against the countries that did not do so and the companies involved in the related transactions. But even after this implementation, it has not surfaced that there has been any big difference in the trade of Russian fuel. Therefore, the United States, which has taken the initiative for this, has started encouraging the companies involved in the Russian fuel trade to do business. The Financial Times, a leading daily, claimed that the Biden administration had held some meetings in this regard and instructed the companies. Companies like Trafigura and Gunvor, part of the fuel trade, informed the British daily that they received such directives.

Moreover, it emerges that US agencies want to continue trading in Russian fuel. Therefore, they have not taken a strict stance on the rules’ implementation or action, a leading fuel entrepreneur informed a British daily. Meanwhile, it revealed that the Gulf countries had increased their imports of fuel and related products from Russia.

Furthermore, information has recently come to light that Saudi Arabia imported 190,000 tonnes of diesel, the leading fuel-producing country in the Gulf. A few days ago, the website Refinitiv said that another 99,000 tonnes of diesel-filled vessels for Saudi Arabia were seen in the Russian port of Primosk.
