US bases in Iraq face two attacks in 12 hours

In the last 24 hours, Iran affiliated terrorists launched attacks on the US embassy and airbase. These groups threatened that these attacks are to avenge the actions carried out by the United States on the Iran affiliated groups in Iraq and Syria and the attacks will only intensify in the coming times. Meanwhile, the United States has announced an award of $3 million for anyone giving information regarding the terrorists launching drone attacks on the US interests.

Rocket attacks were launched on the Al Assad airbase, home to the militaries of the United States and its allies. Seven rockets, in all, were found at the airbase. Three of these rockets landed in the yard of the airbase. After that, on Monday after midnight, a drone attack was launched on the US embassy in Baghdad.

But the US military neutralised the drone using the air defence system. Therefore, a major mishap could be averted. The United States announced that these attacks caused no losses. The United States also clarified that the search operation has been launched for the masterminds of the attacks. Before both these attacks, Iran affiliated terrorist organisations Kataib Hezbollah, Harkat Hezbollah Al-Nujaba and Kataib Saeed Al-Suhada had issued threats to the United States.

Last month, the United States had carried out a major air action against the Iran affiliated terrorist organisations in Iraq and Syria. It is claimed that these organisations suffered major casualties in these actions. These terrorist organisations had threatened to avenge the US actions. These terrorist organisations had warned that the United States would face dire consequences if it did not withdraw its military from Iraq.

Reports are being received that ‘Popular Mobilisation Forces’, an influential Iran affiliated terrorist organisation, has increased its activities to retaliate against the US actions. The United States has also announced an award of $3 million for anyone giving information regarding those behind the attacks.

It is claimed that at least 47 attacks have been launched on the US locations in Iraq since this year. These include six drone attacks. Drone attacks had been carried out to target the US military on the bases at Erbil, Al Assad and Baghdad in April, May and June. There are nearly 2,500 US soldiers still deployed in Iraq.
