Protests in US against attacks on Asian-Americans

Washington: Last week, Six Asian-American women were killed in the violence in the US city of Atlanta. There is fear and discontent among the Asian-American population in the United States and these sentiments were reflected in the protests held on Saturday. Thousands of Asian-Americans, who took to the streets to protest in various US cities, gave slogans of ‘Stop Asian Hate’. In a survey held only a few days ago, 45% of the respondents had said that China is the biggest enemy of the United States.

A 21-year-old white youth named Robert Long killed 8 people in this attack. Six out of the eight were women of Asian origin. Four out of the six Asian women are said to be from South Korea. The Asian population is grappled with fear, following this attack and claims are being made, the local agencies are not taking cognisance of the ethnic hatred against them.

Following the attack in Atlanta, an attack on a 75-year-old Asian woman in San Francisco was an attack.

Against this background, the protests held on Saturday in various cities of the United States attract attention. There is a huge Asian population in the United States and traditionally, they are the supporters of the Democrat party. With a Democrat government led by Joe Biden being in power, the increasing attacks on the Asian-Americans are being said to a failure on the Biden administration part.
