Afghanistan, India, TalibanForeign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi briefed the gathering on the developments in Afghanistan and expressed concern over the situation. India wants peace in Afghanistan. India is discussing this with all the stakeholders in Afghanistan, said Bagchi. However, he did not reveal details. Pakistan expressed satisfaction over the exclusion of India from the Troika Plus meeting in Doha. Pakistan says India cannot have any role in Afghanistan. However, Qatar invited India to the meeting held on August 7. Accordingly, Indian representatives attended the meeting.

India has vested security interests in Afghanistan and has invested $3 billion in development projects. But it would be wrong to say that these development projects belong to India. They belong to the Afghan people, a foreign ministry spokesman claimed. At the same time, India is taking the security of the Hindu and Sikh communities in Afghanistan very seriously, Bagchi said. While the Indian foreign ministry says these things over Afghanistan, the Taliban has demanded India remain neutral in the Afghan conflict.

As the Taliban‘s dominance grows, India has recalled its embassy staff in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan’s fourth-largest city. But a Taliban spokesman sought to reassure India that the Taliban would not attack any country’s diplomatic offices. However, a Taliban spokesman made a suggestive statement that weapons supplied by India to the Afghan army were being used against the Taliban and that India should not take sides in the conflict.
