Foundation laid for Railway route between Tripura’s Agartala in India and Bangladesh’s Akhaura

Agartala : India’s Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu flagged of the ‘Tripura Sundari Express’ running between New Delhi and Tripura’s capital, Agartala. This rail service will now make direct travel between New Delhi and Agartala possible. The Railway Minister also laid the foundation stone for railway route between Tripura’s Agartala in India and Bangladesh‘s Akhaura.
Agartala_railway_station‘Tripura Sundari Express’ will run once in a week. Departing on every Sunday from Agartala and travelling through Guwahati and New Jalpaiguri stations this train will take 47 hours to reach New Delhi. Agartala – New Delhi railway line has been developed at a cost of Rs. 968 crore. For the first time Tripura has been brought on broad-gauge railway map. The rail link between Agartala – Akhaura would be of 15 kilometers.
