DRDO successfully tests HSTDV; will enable easy penetration of enemy security systems

New Delhi: Indian Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully tested ‘Hypersonic Test Demonstration Vehicle’ meaning Hypersonic technology, on Monday. This is an important step in the direction of Hypersonic Cruise Missiles and confidence is being expressed that India will be able to develop Hypersonic missiles, with the help of Scramjet Engine, in the next five years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO scientists for the achievement. With the successful testing of HSTDV, India has joined the hypersonic missiles club with the United States, Russia and China.

DRDO successfully tests HSTDV; will make it easy to penetrate the enemy security coverOn Monday, at 11.03 am, DRDO successfully tested HSTDV, from the Dr Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha. Shattering all expectations of the scientists, the HSTDV attained the speed of Mach 6. The indigenously developed propulsion system was used in the HSTDV test. HSTDV was launched with a Scramjet engine and in the future, this HSTDV will be useful even in satellite launches.

With the successful testing of the HSTDV India has acquired the capability of penetrating the security barriers of the enemies. Ballistic missiles cannot penetrate the security barriers. The ballistic missile can be watched from the time of launch. Such missiles can also be chased and destroyed. But it isn’t easy to track the Hypersonic missiles.

Therefore, the defence forces get the capability to penetrate the security cover of the enemy, even before the enemy realises. The successful HSTDV test becomes important against the background of the tension with China.

With this success, India becomes the fourth member of the hypersonic club. Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the DRDO scientists and said that very few countries have this capability. Whereas, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that this is the best achievement of the DRDO and this is the first step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat. The defence minister exuded confidence while saying India has demonstrated its capability with the development of this Complex and difficult technology.
