It can be tested if the antibodies have been formed in the human body with this Kit. The immune system of the body produces antibodies. These antibodies are produced by the body when there is a virus infection. The Kit can detect coronavirus spike as well as the nucleocapsid proteins of the virus.

The Kit can detect antibodies in just 75 minutes. Many times, the Coronavirus patients are asymptomatic. Patients do not go to in such cases. But testing for antibodies can detect if the person has been infected with Coronavirus. It can also be detected if the patient has suffered from Coronavirus in the past.

100 tests can be conducted with one Dipcovan Kit. Only last month, this Kit was approved by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Only a few days ago, the Drug Controller General of India and the expert committee of the Central Drug Standards Control Organisation (CDSCO) approved the Kit for production and sale. But, on Friday, an official announcement was made regarding this. The production will start in the first week of June, and the kits will be made available to various hospitals.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the DRDO for the Kit and the other contributions made in the fight against Coronavirus. DRDO Chairman, Dr G Satheesh Reddy, congratulated the researchers responsible for the development of the Kit.

Recently DRDO developed 2-Deoxy-D-Glucose (2-DG), an effective medicine against Coronavirus. Four days ago, the medicine was released in the market. The DRDO has also developed indigenous technologies for Ventilators and Oxygen production plants. DRDO has also created temporary hospital facilities at many places.
