Washington: In the wake of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, there has been a huge addition in arms sales from the United States to NATO member countries. The leading magazine ‘Foreign Policy’ claimed that in 2022, the value of US defence deals with NATO countries would be more than double compared to 2021. The article in ‘Foreign Policy’ says that the US sold weapons worth 28 billion dollars to NATO member countries in 2022.

In 2021, the US sold arms worth about 15 billion dollars to NATO countries. In 2022, the value of US arms sales reached 28 billion dollars. It mainly includes European countries, and as many as 24 arms supply agreements have been signed between the US and these countries.

In the wake of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the United States and NATO member countries started providing large-scale arms support to Ukraine. It includes firearms and armoured vehicles, including cannons, tanks, rocket systems, missiles, and helicopters. Countries like Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and Germany have signed defence agreements worth billions of dollars with the US. These contracts include guns, HIMARS, F-35 fighter jets, and missiles. Due to these deals, defence companies in the US have boomed, and it surfaced that the value and wealth of all the five leading companies have increased significantly. These include Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Raytheon and General Dynamics.
