US's most advanced fighter jets debut at Aero IndiaIndia has been ready to buy 114 fighter jets, and the competition has heated up among the world’s leading fighter aircraft manufacturers to get the contract worth around $20 billion. US companies have also entered the competition, and the US, once reluctant to supply advanced technology and defence equipment to India, has now been claiming that it sees India not only as a client country but as a partner too. Besides, US representatives have claimed their fighter jets were the best for India. The issue of US leaders and senior diplomatic officials’ visit to India to supply more and more US weapons and defence equipment, as well as fighter planes, to India is being raised.

In addition, US Under Secretary of State Victoria Nuland had announced before she visited India that she would raise the issue of providing US arms and defence materials to India. Thereupon, it was no coincidence that the US sent its largest-ever delegation to Aero India, which then launched in Bengaluru. Additionally, the US has been trying to convince India in different ways that the US will be the best partner country for India to buy fighter jets and other defence equipment. The highly advanced fighter jets F/A-18F Super Hornet and F/A-18E participating in Aero India testify to this. The United States suggests that India, under threat of a powerful country like China, should buy its advanced aircraft. Former officers and strategic analysts of the Indian Defence Forces have noted this. There have been indications of ongoing discussions in India regarding the US’s proposal.
