Erdogan warned that the entire Greek policy is based on lies. Greece is not an honest country. Therefore, Turkey no longer wants to have any talks with Greece. Greece also should take the Turkish warnings seriously.

While the Turkish President is threatening Greece, the Turkish Navy is moving to deploy an underwater surveillance system in the Aegean Sea, the website “Greek Reporter” has reported. The Greek website claimed that the system would be activated in the Aegean Sea with the help of Turkish drones. It was also reported that this Turkish system would monitor the movements of Greek submarines. Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar recently said that the Air Force and Navy had been ordered to take necessary actions against Greece. Against this background, the ‘Underwater Surveillance System’ deployment becomes significant.

Tensions between Greece and Turkey have been rising consistently for the last few years. The Aegean Sea region between the two countries has been a central point of contention. Turkish destroyers and patrol boats are patrolling Greek waters. Greece had earlier accused Turkey of trying to take control of Greece’s sovereign maritime zone. Greece raised the issue of Turkish destroyer aggression in the European Union and the United Nations.

A few days ago, Turkey criticized the dangerous flight of Greek warplanes through Turkish airspace. The Turkish military has also released drone photographs accusing Greece of military build-up on the Aegean islands. According to the Turkish army, the Greek military made fresh deployments on the Aegean islands just last month.

The Turkish military criticized Greece for deploying US-gifted military vehicles on these islands. Turkey has complained to the United Nations against the Greek action, saying it violates international law. At the same time, Turkish President Erdogan seems to have warned Greece by adopting a more aggressive stance. Also, Turkey seems to be threatening the European countries standing behind Greece.
