There is an independent agency to handle the functioning and management of the European Union. Despite this, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron have a strong influence on the European Union’s decisions, being the larger economies in the Union. German Chancellor Angela Merkel is looked at as a natural leader of the Union. But some of the European analysts reminded that next year, Merkel would step down from her post, while speaking to the British daily.

The analysts claimed that French President Emmanuel Macron is just waiting for this opportunity. Since the last few months, President Macron is trying to replace Chancellor Merkel. Ben Harris-Quinney, Anand Menon and Wyn Grant have said that after Merkel steps down, Macron will try and tighten his grip over the institution as one of the most prominent leaders in the Union. Meanwhile, former President of the EU, Junker, had presented the idea of converting the EU into a superstate in 2016.
