Bangalore: India’s Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh said that India does not believe in the conventional mindset of preaching countries which need help and including them in groups.
During the cold war, the world was divided between two superpowers Russia and the US. Any countries needing weapons were demanded to join a specific group. By citing this, Rajnath Singh clarified that India does not believe in such a philosophy.
Moreover, Rajnath Singh has given a message that India, an emerging exporter of defence materials and arms, will not impose such unrealistic expectations on any country. India treats all countries equally and feels it has no right to preach and impose expectations. Although discreetly, Rajnath Singh referred to the US, which pressured India not to deal with Russia for arms.
Furthermore, the statement of Defence Minister clarifies India’s foreign policy. It conveys that India as a supplier of arms, respects the sovereignty of countries and will not impose any conditions on anyone. Hence, India will be seen as a reliable defence partner.
