India is taking a spate of decisions to increase the level of defence preparedness following the conflict between the Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley. Purchase of defence equipment required by the defence forces has been completed. To expedite these purchases further, the decision to enhance the special financial rights awarded to the defence forces was taken during the DAC meeting presided over by Defence Minister Raj Nath Singh.

All the three defence forces can directly purchase defence equipment up to ₹3 billion. There are no limitations in this process. The only rule is that emergency purchases should not exceed ₹3 billion. Therefore, the defence forces will not have to wait for a government sanction for purchases up to ₹3 billion.
