WHO had expressed a concern a few hours ago that Latin America was becoming the next centre of Coronavirus pandemic. The increasing number of deaths in Brazil and Chile was the main reason behind this concern. In the last 24 hours, the total number of deaths reported from around the world is more than 5,224. Out of these 1,286 were reported from the United States, 1,188 from Brazil and 1,614 were reported from Europe. The number of deaths in Brazil is fast approaching the numbers in the United States and President Bolsonaro is facing a shower of criticism.

There were strong demands for a lockdown in Brazil, after the onset of Coronavirus pandemic. But President Bolsonaro rejected the demands and instead published photographs, showing himself, buying things from the market and told the population not to fear. The opposition parties had severely criticised this irresponsible behaviour. But without paying any heed to the criticism, Bolsonaro persisted with his decision of not imposing a lockdown. The results of this decision are becoming apparent now, which has increased the pressure on Bolsonaro, tremendously.

With an increase of more than a hundred thousand new cases per day, for three successive days, the total number of cases around the world has reached 5,347,552. Exactly three days ago, the total number of cases, around the world, crossed 5 million. The increasing trend in a number of cases, observed after that, is becoming a cause for concern. At the same time, a piece of comforting news that 2.2 million patients have fully recovered also is reported. As per information provided by John Hopkins University, Worldometer and WHO, new cases reported were 24,170 from the United States, 20,803 from Brazil and 19,544 from Europe.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned about the second wave of the pandemic. President Putin warned that there could be a second wave of the pandemic, in the months of October-November, which may hit Russia very hard. President Putin also instructed the Russian agencies to be geared up for the second wave.
