Seoul: After almost five years, the US and South Korean armies have started the most extensive joint military exercises. South Korean officials said the joint exercise was held because of the growing threat from North Korea. But this war exercise has made China extremely uncomfortable. Chinese mouthpiece alleged that the United States is demonstrating its preparedness in the region through this war exercise and will create instability in the area.
The ‘Ulchi Freedom Shield’ military exercise between the US and South Korean armies began on Monday. It is the largest military exercise between the US and South Korean military, lasting until September 1st. Fighter planes, warships, destroyers, guns and thousands of personnel from both countries will also participate in this. The exercise will be conducted in two phases. In the first phase, the training has been planned to underline the threat posed by North Korea.
South Korea would practice countering an attack on a semiconductor factory in South Korea, a terrorist attack on an airport by North Korea, or an attack on a North Korean nuclear power plant. In the second phase of the exercise, the retaliatory attack will be with live fire. In 2017, this exercise was organized between the United States and South Korea. According to South Korea, the exercise was conducted to counter the threat posed by North Korea, which has been terrorizing with its missile tests over the past year.
Earlier, North Korea had accused the United States and South Korea of conducting military exercises against it. North Korea has already threatened severe consequences if this exercise is not stopped in time. Therefore, North Korea has not reacted to this exercise between the United States and South Korea. But the mouthpiece of the Chinese communist regime criticized the practice between the United States and South Korea as a show of strength.
The Chinese mouthpiece alleged that the true intentions of the United States to create tension in the region were more clearly revealed through this war exercise. The spokesperson of the communist party blamed that this US exercise would increase the tension here rather than create stability in the Korean area. The Chinese spokesperson claimed this by quoting a Beijing-based analyst that the United States is paving the way for a conflict by conducting such war exercises.
