Washington: John Kerry crossed all his limits and held a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister while Donald Trump was the President; this was anti-United States. The Kerry-Zarif meet was a jolt to the policies of the United States. But the plans of current US President Biden to revive the Iran nuclear deal and the other plans are more dangerous than that. Former US State Secretary, Mike Pompeo issued this warning while talking to a US news channel.
In 2018, former US President Donald Trump withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal. At the same time, he started efforts to bring Iran to its knees, imposing more stringent sanctions. But John Kerry, who had served as State Secretary during the Obama administration, visited Iran and had held a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Jawad Zarif. Kerry had neither taken permission from the Trump administration nor from the US Congress for this action. Former officials from the Trump administration and the Iranian citizens, who have taken refuge in the United States, had criticised Kerry for this. It was accused that the Kerry-Zarif meeting was anti-United States.
But former US State Secretary Mike Pompeo said that President Biden‘s policies regarding Iran are a bigger threat than the Kerry-Zarif meet for the United States and its allies. Pompeo pointed out that if the nuclear deal is revived, Iran’s path will be cleared to acquire a nuclear bomb. Pompeo reminded, ‘Before this, after signing the nuclear deal in 2015, Iran provided economic concessions, finance, and even awarded rights. But what was the Use? After this agreement, terrorist attacks in the Gulf increased, Iran became more aggressive and the United States lost its allies from the Middle East.’ Pompeo criticised, ‘Even Today the Biden administration is preparing to appease the tyrant regime and dictator in Iran.’ The former US State Secretary appealed that instead, the Biden administration should adopt the Trump administration’s stand of imposing aggressive, tough sanctions.
