The world’s trust in India’s defence sector has increased, says Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Aero India Show 2023

Bengaluru: Aero India-2023 was inaugurated in Bengaluru in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. It was no longer just an air show, but reflects a changed India, said the Prime Minister. Moreover, he also stated that nearly 100 countries and 700 domestic and foreign companies have participated in Aero India. Besides, this shows that the world’s trust in India’s defence sector has increased. The Prime Minister claimed that now India is not only a defence market, but India is viewed with confidence to be a partner country in the defence sector.

In addition, India’s defence exports have doubled in the last five years. Also, India exports defence-related material to 75 countries worldwide. The Prime Minister further said a target was set to take the country’s defence exports from $1.5 billion to $5 billion by 2024-25.

Additionally, India has brought about major reforms in the field of defence. The Prime Minister also stated that special efforts were being made to give further scope to modern technologies and concepts. Simultaneously, he clarified that the government has been eager to provide the necessary support for setting up defence equipment and weapons factories. PM claimed that Aero India was working as a launch pad for India in such a situation. He further added that India, which was once the largest importer of defence equipment and arms, has been now moving towards becoming the largest producer of defence equipment.

The country’s private sector and investors can play a very important role on this front. Hence, the country’s private sector needs to invest as much as possible in the defence sector. Moreover, the Prime Minister believes that the private sector’s investment in defence will create new opportunities and avenues. Naturally, the industry thrives more daily wherever there is demand, capacity and experience. Therefore, the Prime Minister pointed out that India’s defence sector will continue to grow more and more dynamic in the years to come.

Along with this, Aero India reflects the new aspirations of a new India. In earlier times, it was seen only as an air show or a medium of exhibition to sell to India. But in recent times, this mentality has taken a back seat. Besides, Aero India has no longer been just an air show. The Prime Minister claimed that Aero India is being seen as a means of showcasing India’s strength show and a medium that proves the potential of India’s defence industry and shows confidence.
