The US cannot cause any harm to Iran, Iranian supremo Ayatollah Kham

Tehran: Iranian supremo Ayatollah Khamenei warned ‘The United States, who keep issuing threats, will not be able to cause any harm to Iran. Still, if the United States continues to threaten Iran, Iran will not hesitate to launch attacks on the United States.’ US President Donald Trump had threatened that Iran would have to pay dearly for the attacks on the US military bases, in Iraq and Syria. This is the Iranian reaction to that threat.

Last week, the US military base in Iraq was attacked with 30 rockets. The United States held Kataib Hezbollah, an Iran affiliated organisation in Iraq, responsible for this attack, in which an American contractor was killed. The United States issued a warning to the Iran affiliated groups by attacking five locations of Kataib in Syria and Iraq. But after this, the Kataib and PML soldiers carried out attacks on the US embassy in Iraq, for two successive days.

Criticising the attack, President Trump had said that Iran would have to pay a dear price for the attacks on the US embassy. Iranian supremo Ayatollah Khamenei criticised the United States while replying to the warning issued by President Trump.

Khamenei said ‘Why doesn’t the United States understand that the people of this region hate the United States. If the people of this region Unite, to punish the United States for the crimes committed in Afghanistan and Iraq, the United States will have no option but to flee from the region. Therefore, don’t make the mistake of threatening Iran. If this continues, Iran will carry out attacks without hesitation. The United States cannot cause any harm to Iran.’

The United States is not willing to accept the Iranian claims. Not only the United States, but the regional countries like Saudi Arabia, and its allies also are looking at the increasing Iranian influence in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen as a threat.

750 US soldiers despatched to the Middle East

Washington: Within the next few hours of the attack, carried out by the Iran affiliated groups on the US embassy in Iraq, 750 US soldiers have been sent for deployment in Iraq. The US media claimed that the United States can increase this deployment by nearly 3,000 soldiers in the next few days. The significance of this additional US deployment increases given the rising tension in the Middle East.

US Secretary for Defence, Mark Esper, made this announcement of the deployment of an additional 750 soldiers in the Middle East. A unit from the ‘82nd Alert Brigade’ will reach Kuwait, country to the south of Iraq, in the next few hours. A US official claimed that the remaining 3,250 soldiers of the Brigade would also be sent to the Middle East in the next few days.

Since last May, the United States has deployed 14,000 soldiers in the Middle East. The US Secretary for Defence declared that this deployment is given the increasing Iranian threat.
