Major shift in Erdogan policy, Turkey to send 1 million Syrian immigrants back to homeland

Ankara: Turkey is preparing to send 1 million Syrian immigrants living in the refugee camps in Turkey for the last few years back to their homeland. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made this announcement. Although Turkey accommodated the Syrian immigrants in the country, accepting billions of dollars of aid from the western countries, the increasing population and the rising crime rate pose a threat to the Erdogan Regime. It is claimed that President Erdogan decided to send the immigrants back to their homeland because of this.

Syrian immigrants have the largest share, with numbers around 3.7 million. More than 400,000 illegal immigrants have come from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq. Ismail Cataklı, the Internal Security Minister of Turkey, revealed this information on Sunday.

Moreover, President Erdogan claimed that more than 500,000 Syrian immigrants who had come to Turkey over the last ten years of the Syrian war have safely returned to their homeland. But the United Nations has refuted this Erdogan claim. The United Nations has said that only 130,000 Syrian immigrants have returned to their land. Therefore, it has been exposed that Turkey is giving distorted figures regarding immigrants.

Moreover, the immigrants restricted to the refugee camps on the Turkish border have reached the Turkish cities. Major shift in Erdogan policy, Turkey to send 1 million Syrian immigrants back to homelandIt has been exposed that these immigrants have been involved in serious crimes. It is being criticised that President Erdogan is using the Syrian immigrants against his political opponents. A few days ago, it was also exposed that the Pakistani immigrants are involved in crimes like kidnapping and murders.

The criticism is becoming more vital in Turkey that the stand of President Erdogan is responsible for the crimes committed by immigrants. 73% of the Turkish population has expressed annoyance over the stand taken by President Erdogan in various surveys conducted around the country. This benefits Erdogan’s political opponent Kemal Kilichdaroglu, leader of the CHP party. Devlet Basheli, leader of the MHP party, one of the ruling coalition members led by Erdogan, also has criticised that these uncontrolled immigrants can even take over Turkey. It is claimed that President Erdogan is forced to make a significant policy shift given all this. The political analysts from Turkey are warning that Erdogan will not reap any benefits and his declining popularity will not reverse.
