On Wednesday, former US President Trump announced the formation of a new company, the Trump Media and Technology Group. The statement said, ‘The ‘Big Tech’ companies in Silicon Valley are trying to use their unlimited power to silence the voices of the opposition in the United States. The main objective of the new company will be to confront them firmly.’ It was also informed that an independent social media network called ‘Truth Social’ would be set up for this purpose.

‘Truth Social’ and the new company have been formed to fight against the oppression of Big Tech. There is a Taliban on Twitter, but the US president has been banned. This is unacceptable. I will soon publish the first truth on new social media. The fight against big tech will begin soon.’ said former President Trump. The Trump Media and Technology Group will also provide a ‘video on demand’ service that will feature entertainment, news and podcasts.

After Trump’s tenure, a major conflict erupted between the conservative Republican Party and the Big Tech. Leading social media networks, both Facebook and Twitter, have blocked several accounts supporting the former president. Apps like ‘Parlour’ and ‘Gab’ were launched to challenge him. Trump himself started a blog. However, those close to Trump have hinted that the new company and social media app is a decisive endeavour.
