Washington – The Pentagon, US Defense headquarters, informed about a suspicious balloon over Hawaii in the Pacific Ocean. A similar incident of a balloon was reported in the US three months ago, which was shot down by the Air Force, claiming to be a Chinese spy balloon. However, the Pentagon has made no claims of any spying activity this time. Hence, the F22 Raptor aircraft is keeping a close eye on it.
The Hawaiian Islands in the Pacific Ocean is a territory of the United States with a large base of the US Air Force with the deployment of bombers and stealth planes. This is strategically important to the security of the US interest in the Indo-pacific region. China has consistently opposed the deployment of military forces on the Hawaiian island.
In such a situation, a suspicious balloon flying over this Hawaiian island has attracted the media’s attention. The Pentagon said the balloon departed from Hawaii a few days ago. So now, this balloon is travelling towards Mexico. No communication signals have been transmitted from this balloon. Therefore, the Pentagon claimed that this balloon was not used for espionage.
The United States is being criticised for diverging information late to the media. In February, the Biden administration also informed about the Chinese spy balloon after a week and acted after the spy balloon had travelled from Alaska to South Carolina. A Chinese spy balloon is said to have patrolled nuclear and missile silos in the US state of Montana. It is claimed that China may have sent this spy balloon to gather information about the strategic locations of the United States. The Republican Party, which controls the US House of Representatives, criticised this matter. There was a strong reaction from the US public and the media.
The Biden administration launched an F-22 Raptor to shoot down a Chinese spy balloon. But due to the delay in taking this action, the opposition party leaders and the public had pulled the lid on the Biden administration. The Biden administration is taking a similar stance regarding the balloon that travelled over the island of Hawaii.
