Russian Defence Minister Shoigu met Russian Command in Ukraine -

Moscow: Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu visited Russia’s Joint Command Center in Ukraine in the wake of the ongoing conflict in the Kherson and Donetsk provinces. It has come to light that a long-term meeting has been held with senior military officials, including General Sergey Surovikin, assigned to Russia’s campaign in Ukraine. Photographs of the meeting have been released, which show that discussions were being held for the Ukraine campaign. This marks the first time a Russian Defence Minister has visited the Russian-controlled part of Ukraine since the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

A fierce fight was ongoing between the armies of Russia and Ukraine in the Donetsk and Kherson regions in the past few days. The issue of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine was also revived. Before that, efforts were on by both sides to ensure that the maximum part gets occupied. Russian forces have been forging ahead to take control of the Bakhmut and Soledar areas in Donetsk. Moreover, Russia is said to have erected a firm front with new deployments to prevent Ukraine’s counterattacks in Kherson. There are indications of a decisive conflict in this region in the next few days. Against this backdrop, the visit and meeting held by the Defence Minister of Russia with the military command in Ukraine became significant.
