US warns India over alliance with Russia

Washington: Russia is not a reliable source of energy and security. Some countries have experienced this. India should also start the process of distancing itself from Russia. For this, the United States is ready to give all possible support to India. This will not happen suddenly. But, India may be able to move away from Russia in the next two years, the US State Department has said. Due to this, the United States is preparing to impose its anti-Russian policies on India again. After Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar visited Russia, the US again reminded India of its anti-India stance during the Cold War by warning India.

US warns India over alliance with RussiaThe US provided arms to the authoritarian regime in Pakistan during the Cold War but refused to provide arms to India. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar recently pointed out that India had to buy arms from Russia due to this. Speaking on it, the spokesperson of the US State Department, Ned Price, presented his country’s position. Besides, developing a defence and security partnership with India during the Cold War was impossible. But in the last 25 years after the end of the Cold War, there has been a great change in US-India relations. Ned Price said the United States is eager to cooperate with India in all fields.

This position of the United States towards India is very clear. India should now prepare to break away from Russia in such a situation. Few countries have experienced that Russia will not be a reliable source of energy and security. India cannot suddenly walk away from Russia. But, the United States is ready to give all possible support to India to separate from Russia in the next two years, said Price. Therefore, the US has given India two years to break its cooperation with Russia. Earlier, India had completely ignored such frivolous demands of the US and gave more importance to its relations with Russia. India responded to US pressure by purchasing the S-400 air defence system from Russia and increasing fuel purchases from Russia even after the Ukraine conflict. Also, during the visit of External Affairs Minister Jaishankar to Russia, it was announced to take the trade between the two countries to $30 billion.

But this independence of India’s foreign policy is not acceptable to the United States. This matter has been highlighted once again on this occasion. The US aims to separate India from Russia and weaken both countries. For this, the US is warning to use all tactics from pressure to sanctions. But the United States, which blames Russia for its untrustworthiness, has adopted policies that make its fellow countries more and more vulnerable. This can include Israel, Saudi Arabia and other Middle East nations, besides Japan and Taiwan. In such a situation, the United States expects India to give up its cooperation with Russia. India cannot accept this demand. On the contrary, the pressure exerted by the US on India may adversely affect India’s relations with the US.
