Now is the right time to attack Iran – Israel’s former navy official claims

Jerusalem: Iran is close to producing 100% nuclear weapons. Therefore, it would be appropriate to attack Iran right now, suggested Eliezer Marom, a former officer of the Israeli Navy. The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency has warned that Iran’s nuclear program has reached a dangerous level and has acquired the ability to make several nuclear bombs. Such reactions are seen from former officers of the Israeli Defence Forces and strategic analysts. Amid reports that Israel was behind the attack on Iran’s Isfahan missile base, former military officials are now drawing attention to their country’s leadership’s advice to strike Iran.

Now is the right time to attack Iran – Israel's former navy official claimsFor the past few months, the negotiations the US and European countries started regarding the nuclear deal with Iran have stalled. The International Atomic Energy Agency is accusing Iran of speeding up its nuclear program while the West is preoccupied with the conflict in Ukraine. Rafael Grossi, the head of the commission, claimed that Iran had enriched uranium to 60% purity. Noting that Iran has not yet developed a nuclear bomb, Grossi urged the West to redouble its efforts to deter Iran.

There has been no response from the US and European countries to this warning from the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency. But there is an angry reaction from Israel, which is aware that if Iran becomes nuclear-armed, it will first threaten its security. Eliezer Marom, a retired vice admiral of the Israeli Navy has demanded action against Iran while talking to an Israeli news channel. Marom pointed out that that although Iran is currently enriching uranium to 60 percent, it can quickly increase enrichment to above 90 percent, which is necessary for a nuclear bomb.

Hence, now is the right time to attack Iran to stop it from getting nuclear weapons. Marom suggested that this action should be taken this year itself. A few days ago, Israel’s defence adviser and chief of defence forces announced that they were preparing to attack Iran’s military bases. Israeli officials said this action would be taken against Iran as soon as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered it.

Meanwhile, in the last three days, drone attacks have occurred on Iran’s Isfahan and Iran-affiliated groups near the Iraq-Syria border. The allegation that Israel is responsible for this has started coming from Iran. Iran has threatened that the hands of those who play with it will eventually be washed by it.

In such a situation, Israel is prepared to face it, anticipating a counterattack from Iran. Israel has warned its embassies and security forces that Iran may target Israeli citizens abroad in response to drone attacks.
