London: – British Foreign Minister, Liz Truss, warned that the time has come to offload the burden holding the United Kingdom and its population back. She also expressed regret that opinions that one should be ashamed of the country’s history are being expressed in the British elite circles. It has been revealed that the extent and activities of the aggressive, extreme leftist groups are on the rise in the United Kingdom. Since last year, the talks of the influence of US ideologies and agitations in the United Kingdom has been in discussion. Rallies were organised in the United Kingdom to support the ‘Black Lives Matter’ protests in the United States. The matter did not remain at the level of rallies and British groups started targeting the British universities and the historical personalities. The statue of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill was vandalised during one of the rallies last year. In Bristol, the statue of British trader Edward Colston was removed and dumped into the sea.

The thinkers in the British political circles have taken serious cognisance of these incidents. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson ordered inquiries against these aggressive and extreme leftist groups. British Home Minister Priti Patel had fired a salvo of criticism on the Black Lives Matter agitation and its supporters. Home Minister Patel had said that the stand to rewrite history was not acceptable. Foreign Minister Truss also seems to be reiterating this through her statements. Truss targeted the leftist ideology saying, ‘There is no need for the British population to be ashamed of their history. The disputes being raised over the historic events are only helping the adversaries of the United Kingdom. The times of consistent introspection and accepting our faults are over; there is a need for awakening.’ Foreign Minister Truss warned that the cultural conflicts and the attacks arising out of this ideology have to be stopped in the United Kingdom.
