IS influence on the rise in Syria and Iraq, warn US security agencies

Washington – While the world is focused on the IS attacks in Afghanistan, this terrorist organisation is increasing its influence in Syria and Iraq. An official from the US intelligence agency warned that this is a cause for serious concern. Pentagon spokesperson clarified that action against the IS is the primary US objective in Syria.

The Biden administration is preparing for a complete military withdrawal from Syria. The administration said that the terrorist organisation IS, which rocked the world a few years ago, has been finished. But as per the information given by an official from the US Defense Forces intel department to a leading news channel, the IS influence is again on the rise in Syria and Iraq since September. In the last month, the IS terrorists launched attacks on the fuel-related infrastructure, the fuel transport systems and even the Iran affiliated groups. The US intelligence official claimed that the IS had shifted its bases to northeastern Syria. At the same time, the US official expressed a concern that the IS ideology is getting support even from the locals.

John Kirby, the spokesman of the US defence headquarters, Pentagon, has expressed concerns over the increasing IS influence. But Kirby also said that the United States was closely monitoring the activities of IS. Besides, Kirby said that the United States is closely watching the actions taken by the Kurdish organisations against the IS terrorists.
