The Speaker of the Russian parliament house, Valentina Matviyenko, had recently visited Iraq. The Deputy Prime Minister of Iraq, Maliki, met her and mentioned about the historical relations between Russia and Iraq. “Everyone is aware of the historical relationship between Russia and Iraq. In order to strengthen this relationship, Russia should increase their military and political deployment in Iraq’ as demanded by Maliki. ‘Russia has always played a very crucial role in solving various disputes at international level. Hence, in order to establish stability in the Gulf, Russia must accept an important role in Iraq’, as said by Maliki.

Earlier the Deputy Prime Minister of Iraq had a telephonic conversation with the Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov. ‘After wiping out the ‘IS’, Iraq now needs support in the energy sector investment and  trading assistance. Russia could accept a vital role in this’, as proposed by the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister. Maliki clarified in his discussion with Lavrov that Iraq also needs Russia’s support in its war against terrorism. Russian foreign minister Lavrov assured that Russia would support Iraq in their war against terrorism.

Meanwhile, two days ago while speaking to the Russian media, Deputy Prime Minister Maliki had criticized US. ‘“The credit for victory in Mosul goes to the Iraqi citizens. However, US is trying to wrongly take this credit. The US currently celebrating the defeat of ‘IS’ in Mosul, had formed this terrorist organization a few years ago’, as claimed by Maliki. At the same time, Maliki cleared that henceforth the deployment of the US Army in Iraq will not be tolerated.
