ISIS claims responsibility for the attack against Russian Embassy in Afghanistan

Kabul: The terrorist organisation ‘IS-Khorasan’ claimed responsibility for the suicide attack on the Russian Embassy in Afghanistan. IS announced its suicide bomber targeted a Russian diplomatic official and caused the blast. Besides, the Taliban has alleged that the terrorist who attacked the Russian embassy was trained by special forces abroad.

In this attack, 25 people, including two officials of the Russian Embassy, were killed, and 33 others were injured. IS claimed responsibility for the attack on the Russian embassy via social media late Monday. IS announced that diplomats at the Russian embassy were targeted by its terrorists. Information surfaces that this attacker was of Chinese origin. It is claimed that a significant number of terrorists of Chinese origin have been involved in terrorist attacks carried out by IS in Afghanistan in the past year.

The Taliban also informed that the terrorist responsible for the attack killing a Russian diplomat had been trained by Special Forces abroad. Moreover, the spokesman of the Taliban in Qatar, Suhail Shaheen, alleged that groups supported by anti-Afghan foreign elements have been providing support to these terrorists. Groups that do not want to see the relations improving between Russia and Afghanistan are behind the attack. Cooperation is being established between the Taliban and Russia. Seeing that Russia is investing in Afghanistan, the hatred of these enemies erupted more, which is why the attack was conducted, the Taliban spokesperson blamed.

Among these, information surfaces that the capital Kabul becomes the main centre of IS attacks. Also, in the last year, IS terrorists targeted Taliban leaders and places of worship of Shias and minorities in Afghanistan. But on Monday, IS terrorists attacked the Russian embassy and the Taliban regime seems to have dealt a considerable blow. Some analysts claimed there would be no terrorist attacks in Afghanistan after the Taliban rule. But the Taliban also appears to have failed to prevent terrorist attacks in Afghanistan.
