Indian NSA and his French counterpart hold important discussion -

New Delhi: French National Security Advisor Emmanuel Bonne is visiting India. He discussed this with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. In this discussion, the issue of the Indo-Pacific region, conflict in Ukraine, anti-terror operations, cyber security, Afghanistan and Rafale (M) aircraft were prioritised. Bonne announced that France supports India’s bid for permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council. India’s Ministry of External Affairs has said that the discussion held between the National Security Advisors of India and France is important in the background of the ongoing global events and the conflict in Ukraine.

The 36th strategic dialogue between India and France has been held and the National Security Advisor of France, who came to India, met External Affairs Minister Jaishankar. It is also reported that Emmanuel Bonne will meet Prime Minister Modi. Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Arindam Bagchi has said that the discussion held between the National Security Advisors of India and France is important in the background of the current international developments and the conflict in Ukraine. The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs has claimed that all aspects of strategic cooperation between India and France were covered in this discussion.

French President Emmanuel Macron is expected to visit India. India will buy Rafale aircraft from France for its army and navy. It is claimed that this agreement will be concluded during the visit of the French President to India. This cooperation becomes very important from the perspective of a strategic partnership between the two countries. France has islands in the Indo-Pacific region and China’s unbridled activities in this region have threatened these islands. In such a situation, France is keen to cooperate with India to secure these islands. Due to the policies adopted by the Biden administration, China’s aggression in this maritime sector is likely to increase. Therefore, the importance of India’s strategic cooperation with France has increased tremendously.

In such a situation, the visit and discussion of the National Security Advisors of France to India become an interesting matter. The developing cooperation between the two countries, especially regarding the Rafale fighter jets, has simultaneously become a source of concern for all other major countries. While America, Russia and the United Kingdom are eager to supply fighter jets to India, it is claimed that France’s success on this front is overwhelming for these countries.
