India-France-UAE discuss strategic partnership

New York: Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has arrived in the United States for the United Nations General Assembly. In the wake of the General Assembly, India, France and UAE held trilateral talks. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar informed on social media that this was a fruitful discussion. Jaishankar also held discussions with the foreign ministers of Egypt, Ethiopia, Albania, Serbia, Cuba and Trinidad & Tobago. After the Ukraine conflict broke out, India emerged on the international stage as the world’s only major economy growing at a credible pace. At such a time, this General Assembly of the United Nations highlights the importance of India. This seems to be reflected in the meetings and discussions of the Foreign Ministers.

India-France-UAE discuss strategic partnershipMoreover, Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar is on a 10-day visit to the United States for the Assembly. Besides, he held tripartite talks with French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, and UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan. The strategic partnership was the topic of discussion in the meeting held on Monday. At present, significant changes are taking place on the political level. Some countries are not geographical neighbours of each other. Yet their common interests and willingness to cooperate have become more robust. Officials informed that this was the central issue during the tripartite discussion between India-France-UAE. The official further said the discussions were on the same lines in all three countries.

Moreover, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar informed on social media that this tripartite discussion was fruitful. Different groups and alliances are being formed worldwide to protect their interests. By citing the ‘QUAD’ comprising India, the United States, Japan and Australia, alongside the ‘I2U2’ comprising India-Israel-United States and United Arab Emirates (UAE), the officials explained the importance of India’s cooperation with France and UAE, citing the India-France-Australia trilateral cooperation. The official said that India’s cooperation with the UAE is becoming particularly more effective on various fronts.

Jaishankar also held bilateral talks with the foreign ministers of Egypt, Ethiopia, Albania, Serbia, Cuba and Trinidad and Tobago. While welcoming Serbian Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovic, Jaishankar stated that the United Nations General Assembly was filled with friends. While Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was visiting Egypt, Jaishankar discussed with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry. Jaishankar said bilateral cooperation between India and Egypt is getting stronger on the defence, trade and investment fronts. Along with this, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar expressed his satisfaction by saying that India’s partnership with Egypt is developing in the fields of green hydrogen, ammonia, and education.
