QKD is the latest technology for secured communication; this can be used for military purposes and confidential communications in the future. This system has been developed using the Cryptographic Protocol. The DRDO units have jointly developed the technology, Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Bengaluru and Robotics and Defence Young Scientist Laboratory-Quantum Technology in Mumbai. A secret key can be generated based on this technology which is used for communication. The conversation and information exchange using this technology can be kept secret.

Two of the DRDO laboratories in Hyderabad were successfully connected using QKD technology. Communication was established between the laboratories, Defence Research Development Laboratory and Research Centre Building. It is being revealed that technology satisfied all the prescribed criteria. This secured system is impenetrable. The technology to detect any attempts of trespassing was also successfully tested during the trials.

The technology developed by DRDO will prove vital in the information and instruction technology sector. This technology will prove vital even for the defence forces and the intelligence agencies. Therefore, this success achieved by the DRDO is considered to be very important. DRDO has crossed one more important stage with this achievement.
